GOA

Goa, a tiny emerald land on the West Coast of India, with its natural scenic beauty, attractive beaches and temples famous for its architecture, feast and festivals and above all hospitable people with rich culture has an ideal tourist profile.

Goa abounds in festivals and fairs around Temples and Churches, which also boast of early legends. There are occasions when a Goan peasant manifests joy and happiness.

Saints and seers sought picturesque Goa nestled along the Western Coast of India as a place of retreat since ancient times. Goa the ancient Gomanchala of vedic fame was liberated from the Portuguese after nearly 451 years and the result of this great mix of cultures is today a happy blend of eastern and western cultures. The State takes pride in its many majestic mosques, temples and churches.

Goa has a rich heritage experienced in its traditional folk, arts, music, dance, festivals and feast. Music is a way of life with the Goans while traditional music still remains strongly in the rural areas, the urban areas have taken to more modern music styles and genres.

Dune driving: Driving in sand is an adventure in itself, combining the excitement of a roller-coaster ride with the challenge of remaining mobile on the shifting surface. Courses in sand driving are available, with four-wheel-drive vehicles provided along with expert instruction.

Sand-skiing Those with a taste for speed and enthusiasm for an unusual sport will enjoy sand skiing down the dunes of the Dubai desert. Special skis are used and high dunes in the interior of the desert are chosen as slopes. Sand-skiing can be arranged on request or as part of a full-day or half-day safari.

DIU

A beautiful blend of sun, sand and sea, is a God's gift to those in quest of a blessed turf where the wary weight of the unintelligible world can, for a while, be lightened and the waking soul can hear the music of the spheres. It is an island retreat gently rocked by the wind and the wave from the Arabian Sea.

It offers you undisturbed peace and an unusual holiday.

Diu, a former Portuguese enclave, and not a Union Territory, is steeped in history. It was a seaport and naval base of considerable strategic importance from the 14th to 16th Centuries. It was also a vital trade link with the rest of India for traders overseas.

Diu was under the sway of Chanda and Vaghela dynasties till the 14th Century. The Muslim rulers ruled over the island town till 1380 AD. Then came the mighty wave of invasion of the foreign rule that lasted well nigh upto 450 years.
